The "Driver's CPC" is the name that has been applied to the training requirements outlined in European Directive 2003/59/EC - "Initial qualification and periodic training for drivers of road vehicles for the carriage of goods and passengers." These training requirements for new and existing freight and passenger vehicle drivers will come into force in September 2008 for PCV drivers and a year later for LGV drivers. They will introduce a massive change in the approach to training for the UK transport industry.
Specialist is at the forefront of preparing for these changes. At present a number of aspects of the implementation of the Directive have yet to be clarified by Government and exact training programmes cannot be finalised.
