Any regulated dangerous goods transported by sea are subject to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods code (IMDG). The Code covers all elements of classification, packaging, labelling and documentation requirements for dangerous substances and articles that are to be placed on board ship. It is vital that all those involved in this trade need to be conversant with the IMDG and know how to prepare consignments and documentation for sea travel. Getting it wrong can mean a consignment left dockside when the ship has sailed!
Specialist has considerable experience of training companies on the use of the IMDG code. We run one day and two day training courses designed to prepare individuals for its practical application. Course length is determined by the nature of the customer’s requirements. Please speak to our dangerous goods team for details.
“Shore based personnel engaged in the transport of dangerous goods intended to be transported by sea shall receive training in the contents of dangerous goods provisions commensurate with their responsibilities.”
