Transport & Warehousing Training Specialist

The Transport and Warehousing Industry needs competent and qualified trainers to ensure that its employees receive the skills necessary to safely carry out their roles. The best industrial trainers need to have the ability to teach as well as expertise in materials handling, manual handling and basic health and safety skills.

If you are aiming at a career in industrial training it is vital you obtain the correct and recognised qualifications. To ensure that you add the relevant qualifications to your Service based transferable skills you should look at the course options below.

We have suggested essential and optional courses that will enhance your employability to any future employer.

To discuss how to put the courses together in a way that would suit your career plan, give us a call on our Service Leavers Helpline 01282 687099

Essential Courses

RTITB Fork Lift Operator Course

If you have not already got a fully up to date FLT Operator certification, it is essential that you carry out this course. RTITB (Road Transport Industry Training Board) approved training and certification takes place on both Counterbalance and Reach trucks. The courses take between one and five days dependent on experience.

RTITB Fork Lift Instructor Course

The course is two weeks long and prepares the individual for the RTITB Instructor examination, which takes place on the final day. The course covers all theoretical and practical aspects of instruction on FLTs and will fully prepare the individual for both the examination and subsequently for training in the workplace. Ideally, applicants should have previous instructional experience but not necessarily on mechanical handling equipment.

Manual Handling Trainer Course

The growth in the number of handling injuries in the workplace has meant that organisations are now taking manual handling training seriously. This course is an extremely useful addition to the industrial trainers portfolio. The course outlines the legislative background and ergonomic principles of manual handling before covering training requirements, methodologies and techniques. The course is four days long.

Optional Courses

ASET Defensive Driving Assessor Course

For those individuals that are existing Driving Instructors / Assessors this qualification is a must. Successful completion of the course allows them to deliver the fastest growing defensive driving programme in the country. The qualification would be an ideal complement to other industrial training qualifications.

First Aid at Work

In an increasingly legislation bound workplace possession of a First Aid qualification is invaluable. Upon successful completion of this course a HSE approved certificate is awarded.

Customer Service Course

The Customer Service programme covers an area not usually high on the Service leavers CV! In the civilian world the customer is king and good customer service is the only way to retain and repeat business. This course aims to “fast track” the Service leaver through the main points of serving the customer.
