First aid for choking infant

The Department for Education (DFE) has published new rules to commence from 3rd April 2017 on the first aid provision for children in early years environments.

In response to the changes a 1 day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is now available.  This new 1 day course will meet the requirements set out for newly qualified early years staff who have completed level 2 or 3 qualifications on or after 30th June 2016.  A period of grace for 3 months is given to provide time for individuals to attend this course.

Early years settings need to provide this training to their newly qualified staff before 2nd July 2017 if they want the training to be included in the child ratios at level 2 or level 3.
