Traffic Commissioners Annual Report 2018/2019

The Traffic Commissioners’ Annual Report for 2018-19 has been published.

It looks at what they’ve achieved and also sets out their plans for the future.

Additionally, the commissioners talk about the areas of compliance causing concern during the year, including:

  • Brake test performance
  • Transport manager accountability
  • Digital tachographs and driver management
  • Bridge strike incidents

The report also contains statistics on the work carried out by commissioners and staff acting on their behalf.

Here are a few of the numbers:

  • over 13,000 lorry licence applications processed
  • over 1200 bus/coach licence applications processed
  • over 20,000 local bus service registrations processed
  • nearly 1600 public inquiries held
  • over 3000 driver conduct hearings held
  • over 21,000 driver conduct cases closed
