In particular, our connections to Road Tanker companies have proved to be particularly effective in providing not only specific qualifications but also links to potential employers. To ensure that you add relevant qualifications to your Service based transferable skills you should look at the course options below.
We have suggested essential and optional courses that will enhance your employability to any future employer.

Any driver who transports regulated dangerous goods in vehicles over a certain size must hold an appropriate ADR certificate. The course is examined and certificated by City and Guilds.
The Practical Road Tanker Operative course is the only nationally accredited Tanker training programme. The awarding body (ASET) approved the programme in 2002, since when numerous Service leavers have achieved the qualification and have gone onto careers in the Road Tanker Industry. The course is five days long and should be taken by those who have the ADR certification and a suitable LGV vocational licence. These can be obtained as part of the resettlement package if not already held.
If an LGV licence is not held, or you need to upgrade it, this can be carried out as part of the overall resettlement package. Those Service leavers who have an LGV licence but have not used it for some time can take an LGV familiarisation course if required.
It is an extremely valuable asset for any driver to be able to offload his cargo. If mechanical handling is required it is essential that the driver possesses a Fork Lift Truck certificate of training. Specialist covers both Reach and Counterbalance training in courses that range from one to five days long depending on experience.
Driving whilst on work related activity results in over a thousand deaths a year on British roads. It is no surprise that organisations are now giving drivers additional training above and beyond that required to acquire a driving licence. The nationally approved ASET training programme is perhaps one of the leading courses of its type. It is two days long and can be added to any training portfolio.
In an increasingly legislation bound workplace possession of a First Aid qualification is invaluable. Upon successful completion of this course a HSE approved certificate is awarded.
EU regulations on drivers’ hours and tachographs are strict and heavily enforced. Any driver that is not fully conversant with them should attend this course. The course is one day long.
